Beginning Gently
An invitation to set intentions without pressure
“And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been.”
— Rainer Maria Rilke
What if this year didn’t ask you to become someone new… but to listen more deeply to who you already are?
January often arrives with noise. Resolutions. Goals. Plans. A quiet pressure to improve, to fix, to do more, to be better. And while intention can be beautiful, it can also feel heavy—especially when we’re still tired from the year behind us.
This year, I’m choosing something different. I’m choosing to begin gently.
January, to me, feels like an inner season. A pause. A soft breath before movement. A space where hope is quiet, not loud.
Beginning gently doesn’t mean you lack motivation. It means you’re listening. It means honoring where you are before deciding where to go.
Instead of asking What should I achieve?
I’m asking: How do I want to feel?
Personally? I would like to feel more grounded. To have more space to just “be”. More kind to myself and from that place, let my intentions grow naturally.
3 ideas to begin the year
1. Let go of harsh resolutions
You don’t need to demand change from yourself to grow.
Growth often happens when we soften, not when we push.
2. Set intentions rooted in feeling
Instead of goals, try naming how you want your days to feel.
Calm. Clarity. Courage. Ease. Let those feelings guide your choices.
3. Create a simple daily pause
A few minutes to write or to breathe and check in with your heart.
Small rituals can quietly transform your days.
An invitation
What if you chose one word to walk with this year?
Not as a rule. Not as a promise. But as a companion—a word to return to when life feels busy.
A word to remind you how you want to live, not how much you want to do.
To support you in this gentle beginning, I’ve created a free coloring page as my gift.
And if it feels supportive, my daily journals include intention-setting pages designed to meet you where you are—inviting reflection, presence, and kindness.
Let this year begin softly.
Let it begin with listening.
Let it begin with you.
With love,
Ale
