The Gift of Stillness

The Gift of Stillness - Hand drawn illustration

An invitation to sit in silence and hear your own voice

“Silence is not empty. It is full of answers.”
— Unknown

What if the answers you’ve been searching for…are waiting in the quiet?

Not long ago, I experienced something simple and beautiful: a tea ceremony meditation. For an hour and a half, we sat in silence. Soft music in the background. The gentle scent of incense. Warm oaky tea in my hands.

No phones. No talking. No doing… Just being.

At first, I felt grounded. My breath slowed. My body softened into the space. And then something subtle began to happen. The silence became alive.

It wasn’t loud or dramatic. It was gentle. Like layers unfolding inside me. I felt open. Clear. Connected. My thoughts softened, and instead of noise, there was space.

At one moment, I felt as if I wasn’t separate from anything. As if the earth, the air, the room, and I were simply part of the same quiet rhythm. It didn’t feel mystical or strange. It felt natural. Warm. Loving.

And what stayed with me most was this: Nothing in my life felt too big. Everything felt held in a bigger perspective.

There was peace. And underneath that peace… love. Not romantic love. Not dramatic love.
Just a steady, calm warmth.

A remembering that we are alive, that we are part of something bigger.
And we are meant to experience love — in small moments, in ordinary days, in how we treat ourselves and others.

Why silence matters?

We live surrounded by noise. Notifications. Opinions. Expectations. Constant input. It becomes very easy to forget what our own voice sounds like.

But when we create intentional stillness — even for a few minutes — something shifts.

Silence helps you:
• Regulate your nervous system and feel grounded
• Gain perspective when emotions feel overwhelming
• Reconnect with your inner wisdom

You don’t need a tea ceremony. You don’t need incense or special music (although they are beautiful tools). You only need willingness.

How to begin? Start gently!

If sitting for 90 minutes feels impossible, start small.

Make a cup of tea. Sit by a window. Light a candle. Set a timer for five minutes.

No journaling. No planning. No fixing. Just sit.

Notice your breath.
Notice the warmth in your hands.
Notice what rises.

Your own voice may feel quiet at first. But it is there. It has always been there. And when you listen long enough, you might remember something important:

You are not your worries.
You are not your to-do list.
You are something steadier.

My invitation to you:

What if you allowed yourself a few minutes of silence this week? Not to achieve anything or to become someone new. Create an opportunity to simply come home to yourself.

To support this practice, I created a gentle coloring page — a small ritual to help you slow down and create your own moment of stillness. A soft space to breathe, reflect, and listen.

Let it become part of your quiet time.

You don’t need to escape your life to find peace. Sometimes, you only need to sit still long enough to hear your own heart.

With love,
Ale

I read it twice, the first time I was in a rush like if someone was hurrying me, then your words made me realize I had to slow down and enjoy l, I read it a second time in total silence, slow and calm I really felt in peace. Thank you for sharing your experience
